I went to Waldorf Jr. College for two years after graduation and left there with an Associate of Arts Degree in 1976. I then attended Iowa State and graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education in Feb. 1979. My first teaching job was at Southeast Warren School District and I was there for three years. I then went to CAL School District and taught first grade for five years. At CAL I directed the high school spring play, coached cheerleading and coached speech competition. I met my husband Randy there and we were married in Ames Aug. 24,1985. We left for Liberty, Missouri in the summer of 1987. We both taught in Liberty for several years. Our first son was born in 1989 and his name is Ryne. Our second son is Carter and he arrived in 1994. Both names are baseball players and Randy and I love baseball. I stopped teaching when Carter was born because we opened a sports card store. I ran it during the day from 1994 to 2002. We had many Royals and Chiefs players at the store to sign autographs. I went back to teaching in 2004 and am still teaching first grade in the Fort Osage School District in Independence, Missouri. I got my Masters of Education in Curriculum and Development in 2007 from William Woods University. My parents are still living in Ames. I enjoy coming to Ames for Iowa State football games and my oldest son graduated from Iowa State in 2011.
